Grandmothers Shatter Stereotypes in Pinkathon 10K Run
Over 50 senior women proved that age is no barrier to active living by participating in a special Grandmothers 10K run, organized by Zydus Pinkathon, at the Vivekanand Education Society (VES) grounds in Chembur. Fitness icon Milind Soman, founder of the initiative, emphasized that the event which saw elderly women complete distances up to 10km aims to break the traditional stereotype of grandmothers staying confined at home, inspiring younger generations in the Chembur community and beyond to embrace active aging.
Chembur Resident Suffers Severe Eye Injury in Pune Road Rage Attack
A 28-year-old Chembur resident was severely injured and required emergency eye surgery after a brutal road rage incident near Pune. While the HR professional and her fiancé were returning to Mumbai, their car was chased and pelted with stones by three men on a two-wheeler following a minor brush with their vehicle. The sustained attack resulted in a shard of glass lodging in the woman’s left eye, causing a grievous injury that has left her with uncertain chances of regaining her full vision, highlighting the shocking escalation of minor traffic altercations.

Crest Ventures, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Crest Urban Living, has formalized a Joint Development Agreement with Vensco Projects LLP for a new premium mixed-use project in Chembur. Spanning approximately 11,000 sq. m., this development is poised to be one of the largest single-parcel real estate projects in the rapidly developing Chembur neighborhood, signaling a significant investment and change in the area's urban landscape. This development move follows the company’s business focus across real estate, financial services, and investment verticals.
Chembur Man Loses Nearly ₹87 Lakh in WhatsApp-Lured Investment Scam
A 41-year-old employee of a multinational technology company has lost a staggering ₹86.85 lakh in a sophisticated online investment fraud. The victim was lured through a WhatsApp group and a fraudulent trading app, where he was shown virtual profits and manipulated by 'admins' conducting fake trading classes, leading him to transfer the large sum into various bank accounts. The scam, which was reported to the East Region Cyber Police after the victim was blocked from withdrawing his money, highlights a serious increase in targeted financial cybercrimes.
B-Right Realestate Secures Large ₹181 Cr. SRA Project in Chembur Village
B-Right Realestate Ventures LLP, a subsidiary of B Right Realestate Limited, has signed a terms sheet to develop a significant Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) project in Chembur Village. The development, located on a 4,256.7 sq. mtr. land parcel, is projected to yield 1.39 lakh sq. ft. of saleable area and has an estimated Gross Development Value (GDV) of ₹181 crores. This strategic move strengthens the company's presence in Chembur, leveraging the area's robust connectivity and high demand for formal, structured housing, marking a major urban repair initiative for one of the neighborhood's older areas.
Chembur Slums Targeted in Major 50-Acre Cluster Redevelopment Scheme
The Maharashtra government, through Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has announced that Chembur is one of the 17 locations selected in the first phase of a massive new slum cluster redevelopment scheme. The policy mandates the collective implementation of SRA (Slum Rehabilitation Authority) projects on land parcels of 50 acres or more across private, government, or semi-government holdings. This major initiative, which also includes the extension of the 'SRA Abhay Scheme' till December 2026 for resolving technical issues in property transfers, is set to bring large-scale, planned urban development to the slum-covered regions.

The new subsidiary, incorporated specifically to undertake redevelopment projects and tap into the high-potential market of Chembur, is a critical component of Raymond Realty's 'asset-light' Joint Development Agreement (JDA) strategy. This expansion is aimed at achieving the company's ambitious total potential revenue target of ₹40,000 crores, emphasizing the strategic importance of the Chembur market in their overall growth trajectory.
Finishing Touches: ₹201 Cr. Contract Moves Chembur Metro Station Closer to Launch
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has awarded a significant ₹201.4 crore contract to Dev-N.ROSE (JV) for the architectural finishing and interior fit-outs of seven elevated stations on the crucial Metro Line 2B, including the Chembur Metro Station. This contract focuses on non-civil works like façade design, water supply, and sanitary installations for the Chembur station and its surrounding area. The completion of these finishing works is a vital step toward making the 23.643 km DN Nagar to Mandale line operational.
