Happy Weekend Chembur Family.
A 52-year-old security guard lost his life after falling while inspecting an elevator system, on his very first day at work.
Security guards, maintenance staff, lift technicians, these are the people who keep our buildings running every day. Most of their work happens quietly, often in environments that carry risk.
And at times, those risks show up in ways that are hard to ignore. A similar case last year involved a fatal accident due to a hydraulic car parking system collapse, highlighting how risks within building premises can have serious consequences when safety measures fall short.
These systems exist around us, in the same buildings we live in. Basic safety measures like proper barricading, restricted access, and supervision are not small details. They directly affect the people working there.
Being aware of how these spaces are managed, and whether basic safety measures are in place, matters. If something seems unsafe, an open shaft, missing barricades, unrestricted access, it’s worth flagging it with your society or building management before it becomes a larger issue.
In places we call home, safety shouldn’t be left to chance.
