A 7-year-old girl was allegedly rescued from an attempted abduction in Chembur after an 18-year-old local resident noticed something was wrong and intervened.

While the incident itself is disturbing, it also serves as a reminder of how much difference a single person can make by simply paying attention to what's happening around them.

We often think of safety in terms of infrastructure, CCTV cameras, security personnel, gated compounds, and official systems. All of these matter.

But there is another layer of safety that is harder to measure, people who remain aware of their surroundings and choose to act when something doesn't seem right.
