Chembur in the News

  • Digital Firm Owner Loses ₹1.26 Crore in Fake Forex and Crypto Scam

A Chembur-based digital marketing firm owner has fallen victim to a sophisticated cyber fraud, losing a significant sum of ₹1.26 crore after being lured into a fake forex and cryptocurrency trading scheme. The victim was contacted via social media and convinced to invest through fraudulent applications and websites promising huge returns, but the money was siphoned off. A case has been registered by the police to investigate the matter, highlighting the vulnerability of even financially savvy

  • Chembur-Mandale Stretch of Metro Set to Open Today

The first phase of Metro Line 2B, a crucial 5.3-km stretch between Chembur's Diamond Garden and Mandale, is scheduled for a partial opening today. This initial segment, which includes key stations in the eastern suburbs, has successfully completed trial runs and is expected to receive final safety certification from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) for inauguration. Once operational, this phase will introduce the first metro service to the eastern suburbs, providing Chembur residents with a much-needed, rapid, and traffic-free transit alternative, which is anticipated to significantly enhance local connectivity and the real estate landscape.

  • Chembur Resident Loses ₹45.8 Lakh Gold in Train Theft

A Chembur resident lost gold jewellery and cash valued at approximately ₹45.8 lakh after it was stolen from her while she was travelling by the Matsyagandha Express from Mumbai to Udupi. The 78-year-old victim, Helmina Salins, a resident of Chembur, Mumbai, discovered her vanity bag containing 408g of gold and ₹15,000 in cash had been moved and looted while she slept during the night journey on December 26-27, 2025, prompting a police complaint at Manipal.

  • Chembur Real Estate Shifts from Momentum to Maturity in 2025

The Chembur property market is poised to transition from its growth-driven momentum to a phase of maturity in 2025, buoyed by the substantial completion of key infrastructure projects and continued redevelopment. The suburb, already established as a promising residential hub, is seeing a rise in premium and luxury segment projects alongside a strong redevelopment wave, replacing older housing stock with modern towers. This maturity means that while price appreciation may steady compared to the high growth phase, the enhanced connectivity through the SCLR, Eastern Freeway, and upcoming Metro Line 2B and MTHL positions Chembur for sustained, high-value living and long-term investment returns.

  • SCLR Extension Work Progresses Near Chembur Connector

Digging work has resumed along the Western Express Highway (WEH) at the landing point of the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road's (SCLR) new extension arm, with the focus now shifting to the southbound lane. This latest phase of widening work, which previously took place on the northbound side, is intended to eliminate bottlenecks and ease the severe traffic snarls that occur when vehicles coming from the new Chembur-originating connector merge onto the WEH. While the work promises long-term relief by smoothing traffic flow for Chembur residents.
