Chembur's First Metro Service: Line 2B Phase-1 to be inaugurated on October on 31

The inauguration follows the final safety approval from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS). A businessman residing in Chembur was allegedly cheated out of ₹1.06 crore after investing in a scheme that promised exorbitantly high returns. The victim, from Chembur, was convinced by the accused to invest in a business offering 4% interest per month for his investments. The accused paid the interest amount only for the first few months before stopping payments, thereby defaulting on the promised returns and failing to refund the principal amount, leading to a complaint being filed.

RCF Gets Approval to Transfer Chembur Land to MCGM for TDR

Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Limited (RCF) has received approval from the Department of Fertilizers (DoF) for the strategic transfer of a 7,104 square meter land parcel in Maravali Village, Chembur, Mumbai, to the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM). In exchange for this land, RCF will be issued Transferable Development Right (TDR) Certificates. Crucially, RCF has also obtained the necessary permission to sell and utilize these TDR certificates, a move that allows the public sector undertaking to monetize its real estate assets while facilitating urban development in the area.

Former Chembur Couple Installs 193 Solar Water Pumps for Wildlife

Dr. Sarita Subramaniam (56) and her husband Dr. P.V. Subramaniam (58), who were former residents of Chembur, have transformed into dedicated wildlife conservationists. Through their non-profit, the Earth's Brigade Foundation (EBF), the couple has installed 193 solar-powered water pumps across 28 forests in India. This initiative ensures that wild animals, including tigers and lions, have access to water, especially during the crucial summer months, and also helps to mitigate human-animal conflict. The dentist couple has since relocated to a farm in Karjat to be closer to nature and continue their mission.

Chembur Man, 78, Rescued After Dental Cap Lodges in Lung

A 78-year-old Chembur resident had a life-threatening incident when a metallic dental cap he was wearing accidentally slipped into his windpipe during a routine dental procedure at a clinic in Chembur. The senior citizen was immediately rushed to Zen Multi-Speciality Hospital in Chembur, where an emergency flexible bronchoscopy was performed by a team led by Dr. Abhijit Ahuja. The metallic cap, found lodged near his right lung and close to obstructing his breathing, was successfully and safely removed within ten minutes without surgical incision. The patient was discharged two hours later with no injuries.

Chembur's M/West Ward Chosen for Pre-Census Survey Starting in November

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is set to launch a pre-census survey in Mumbai's M/West ward, which encompasses the Chembur and Trombay areas, starting in November. This exercise is a crucial pre-test for the nation-wide Population Census slated for 2027. The M/West ward is one of only three sample locations selected in Maharashtra, and the testing will cover 135 house blocks within the ward. The pre-test household enumeration will be conducted between November 10 and 30 (with enumeration for this project running from November 1 to 7) to evaluate proposed questions, data collection methods, and logistics for the main census exercise.
