Hello Chembur Family.
True progress doesn't always demand a stage or a round of applause. It happens in the early hours, the repetitive routines, and the small choices that no one is around to witness. Don’t mistake a lack of recognition for a lack of growth.
Keep showing up. The results are already forming in the shadows.

Chembur in the News
Amar Mahal Junction to get a "Breathe-Easy" Grade-A Office Hub
As air quality concerns grow across the city, Chembur West is set to host a new health-first landmark, Superb Altura, strategically located along the Ghatkopar-Chembur corridor. This Grade-A commercial project distinguishes itself by integrating advanced Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) monitoring systems that aim for low AQI levels within the workplace, offering local businesses a resilient environment against outdoor pollution. Beyond its focus on health, the G+11 storey development at Amar Mahal features energy-efficient designs aligned with GRIHA green standards, rooftop dining, and high-street retail, marking a significant upgrade for the neighborhood's emerging business district.
Local Slum Pockets in Khardeo Nagar and Borla Set for Major Housing Revamp
As part of a massive city-wide push to upgrade living conditions, the BMC has officially opened up 26 slum pockets for redevelopment, with a high-stakes focus on Chembur's M-West and M-East boundaries. Locally, the move directly impacts over 1,100 homes across two major clusters: the Ekta SRA CHS area near N.G. Acharya Marg and a sprawling 15,590 sq m pocket in Khardeo Nagar (Village Borla). Under this new joint venture model, developers are being invited to transform these settlements into structured high-rises with modern tenements, aiming to resolve long-standing housing stalls and provide safer, permanent residences for hundreds of families in the Chembur-Govandi belt.
SCLR Extension Relief: New Highway Lanes to Ease Peak-Hour Commutes from Chembur
Commuters traveling from Chembur towards the Western Express Highway (WEH) are finally seeing a breakthrough in congestion at the notorious SCLR extension landing. After years of being a primary traffic choke point for those exiting the link road, the BMC has widened the stretch over the Agripada Subway, adding one lane each to both the northbound and southbound stretches. This expansion is specifically designed to eliminate the "criss-cross" vehicular movement that has plagued the 1.5-km stretch from the SCLR arm, promising significantly smoother transitions for local residents heading towards BKC, the airport, or Bandra.
RCF Ground to Host National Cricket Talent for Major Ports Tournament
Chembur has taken center stage in the national sporting arena as the RCF Ground serves as a key venue for the 44th All India Major Ports Cricket Tournament. While the event was officially inaugurated at Churchgate, the local turf is hosting high-intensity T20 matches featuring teams from ten major port authorities, including Visakhapatnam, Paradip, and Kolkata.
Local Property Values Surge as Chembur Emerges as a Top-5 National Growth Hub
Driven by the fast-tracked Metro Line 2B, Chembur has been ranked as one of the top five high-demand real estate areas in India for 2026. Data shows that capital values in the neighborhood have already spiked by 53% since the metro's development began, with current property rates in prime pockets like Diamond Garden and Central Avenue reaching up to ₹30,000 per sq. ft. Local experts predict a further 10–20% appreciation this year as the first phase from Mandale to Diamond Garden prepares for its April launch. This transit-led boom is transforming the area into a "rising investment star," drawing heavy interest from professionals seeking 10–12-minute commutes to business hubs and NRIs eyeing the high rental yields in our redeveloped high-rises.
Chembur Naka Station Proposed to Boost Metro 2B Ridership
To ensure the upcoming Metro 2B phase doesn't run with empty coaches, the MMRDA is planning to add a crucial sixth station at Chembur Naka to the initial operational stretch. While safety clearance was already received for the 5-station run from Mandale to Diamond Garden, officials are now pushing to include the Chembur Naka stop to provide a vital interchange with the Mumbai Monorail at the V.N. Purav Marg–RC Marg junction. This strategic addition aims to transform the segment from a standalone corridor into a functional transit hub, making it far more practical for local residents to switch between the Metro and Monorail systems.
Chembur and Tilak Nagar Stations to get Dedicated Emergency Medical Rooms
In a major win for local commuter safety, Chembur and Tilak Nagar are among the key stations selected by Central Railway for the installation of new Emergency Medical Rooms (EMRs). Following a successful e-auction process, these facilities are being fast-tracked to provide "golden hour" treatment directly on the station premises, specifically targeting the high-density traffic on the Harbour Line. Each room will be staffed with trained medical personnel and equipped with essential life-saving tools, including oxygen cylinders, ECG machines, and stretchers, ensuring that any resident or traveler facing a cardiac event or accident can be stabilized before being moved to local hospitals.
Past Safety Record of Metro Contractor Under Scrutiny Following Recent Mishap
Public trust in the safety of the upcoming Metro 2B corridor has been shaken as it reveals that the firm involved in a recent infrastructure accident was also linked to a 2025 mishap on the same line. The Gujarat-based contractor, currently managing sites near Diamond Garden, is facing intense heat after a portion of an under-construction structure gave way, echoing a similar safety failure from the previous year. While the Mandale-to-Chembur stretch is nearing its April launch, this recurring negligence has prompted calls for a stringent safety audit of all local piers and girders to ensure that the "rush to complete" the project does not compromise the lives of residents and commuters along V.N. Purav Marg.
Chembur’s Educational Legacy Expands with New University Launch
The Mahatma Education Society, which began its journey right here in our neighborhood with the Chembur English High School in 1970, has reached a historic milestone with the formal inauguration of Pillai University in Navi Mumbai. This new state private university represents a massive expansion for the society that grew from a local batch of just 20 students to a network now serving over 30,000. While the new high-tech campus is located in Panvel, the achievement marks a proud evolution for the institution that remains a cornerstone of Chembur’s academic identity, bringing a research-driven, global standard of higher education to the wider region.
After nearly two decades of legal battles and the failure of a private developer, the 24 families of Tilak Safalya Co-operative Housing Society have finally broken ground on their own terms. Since the demolition of their original MHADA tenements in 2010, these neighbors have endured a long road through the Supreme Court to reclaim their rights, ultimately choosing the self-redevelopment model to ensure their future. The project is now moving forward as a resident-led initiative, featuring high-standard amenities like solar energy and rainwater harvesting, proving that local unity can successfully navigate the city's complex housing landscape.
Air Quality Slips to "Severe" as Smog Envelopes Chembur Sites
Residents and commuters along V.N. Purav Marg have faced a sharp decline in air quality this week, with the local AQI peaking at a "Severe" 388 on Monday, February 9. While the neighborhood saw a brief midweek dip to 172 by Wednesday, the air remained consistently "Unhealthy" for most of the week, particularly impacting areas near Diamond Garden and Collector Colony. The persistent smog has been a growing concern for local morning joggers and school-goers, as the concentration of fine particulate matter in our residential pockets reached levels equivalent to smoking roughly 4 to 6 cigarettes a day.
