Hello Chembur Family.

We need goals that give us goosebumps. Friends who give us energy. Love that makes us feel alive. And a mission that makes it hard to sleep and impossible to ignore in the morning. When something feels electric, pay attention. Excitement isn’t noise, it’s direction.

Chembur in the News

  • Chembur Metro to start operations from Aprill

Chembur is set to lead the launch of the Yellow Line (2B), with the Chembur Metro station now scheduled to open this April 2026. Originally slated for a later phase, the MMRDA fast-tracked this station to address heavy traffic on VN Purav Road and provide immediate relief to local residents. This Chembur-centric opening serves as the anchor for Phase 1, linking Diamond Garden to Mandale and slashing the travel time to Mankhurd from 45 minutes to just 10 minutes. The station will also offer a vital interchange with the Chembur Monorail, making the area a primary transit hub for the eastern suburbs ahead of the full line's completion to Andheri.

  • Green Acres and Ryan International Secure Wins in MSSA Football

The Green Acres Academy and Ryan International both secured crucial victories in the ongoing Dream Sports-MSSA inter-school football tournament. Competing in the Boys' U-14 Division IV at the St. Francis D'Assisi ground, Arhaan Bhatt provided the clinical finish needed for Green Acres to edge out G.D. Somani with a 1-0 win. Adding to the local success, Ryan International delivered a dominant performance against Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, finishing with a 3-0 victory. These wins push both schools further into the tournament, highlighting a strong season for the neighborhood’s young athletes.

  • Chembur to Face 30-Hour Water Cut Starting February 12

Residents in M West and M East wards are advised to store water as the BMC implements a 30-hour shutdown from 2 AM on Thursday, February 12, to 8 AM on Friday, February 13. The disruption is necessary to install a 1,200mm sluice valve at the Turbhe Low-Level Reservoir and link a new inlet pipeline to the tunnel shaft, aimed at improving long-term supply reliability. Locally, the cut will lead to a total suspension of water in Chembur Camp, Sindhi Society, Vashi Naka, Mahul, Mysore Colony, and parts of RC Marg. Other affected areas include RCF Colony, Sahyadri Nagar, Bharat Nagar, and various MHADA colonies. The BMC has urged citizens to use water judiciously and recommends boiling and filtering drinking water for a few days once supply resumes to ensure safety.

  • High Court Orders BMC to Provide Toilets for Local Slums

The Bombay High Court has directed the BMC to provide basic sanitation facilities for residents of Panchshil Nagar and Gautam Nagar, ruling that slum dwellers cannot be deprived of their fundamental right to a clean environment. The court rejected the BMC's previous refusal to build toilets on the grounds that the settlements were on "state government land," emphasizing that sanitation is a basic human right regardless of land ownership. This order brings significant relief to these M West ward communities, which currently lack adequate toilet facilities and suffer from unhygienic conditions. The BMC is now required to initiate the construction of community toilets to serve the thousands of residents living in these pockets.

  • Commuters can expect the Monorail to return to the tracks shortly, as the MMRDA has initiated the final Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) for the route. The service, which connects Chembur to Sant Gadge Maharaj Chowk, has been suspended since September 20 to allow for a complete overhaul, including the installation of advanced signaling systems and the introduction of 10 new "Make-in-India" rakes. With the technical upgrades nearly finished and new trains currently undergoing final inspections, the corridor is moving toward a full restart once the safety certificate is issued. This reopening is expected to significantly improve reliability and reduce waiting times for local travelers ahead of the broader transit integration in the area.

  • Chembur Air Quality Hits Severe Levels Over the Past Week

Air quality across the neighborhood has remained under significant pressure, with the Chembur West and Gaothan areas frequently slipping into the 'Severe' category over the last seven days. While the start of the week saw a temporary dip to a "Moderate" AQI of 105, pollution levels surged sharply by Monday, February 9, reaching a staggering 388, nearly touching the hazardous 400 mark. This spike was driven by a dense layer of smog and high concentrations of PM2.5, which at times recorded levels over eight times higher than the recommended WHO guidelines. Health experts have warned local residents, particularly those in M West ward, to avoid outdoor exertion and keep windows closed as the persistent haze continues to impact the area.
